Sofia
Animal Care Assistant
Sofia grew up in North Royalton, Ohio, with her older brother Sal and her parents. She had two hamsters in middle school, Boris and Humphrey, and recently adopted a spoiled kitty named Bambino.
Ever since the age of 2, Sofia has always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. For every “What I Want to Be When I Grow Up” day, she would choose veterinarian without hesitation. She loved drawing pictures of dogs and cats and was always eager to learn more about them.
Sofia wasn’t able to spend much time around dogs and cats growing up because her mom was extremely allergic to animals with dander—until Bambino came into her life. Her mom made up for it by encouraging her to volunteer at animal shelters, and Sofia cherished the time she spent playing with her aunt’s dog, Buster.
She has always been active and loved staying involved. Sofia played softball for 10 years, including one year on the JV team at North Royalton High School. After leaving softball, she discovered a new passion for golf and played on the NR JV team for two years. Still wanting to stay active in the spring, she joined the NR Varsity Track and Field Team, where she will complete her third season in the spring of 2025.
Sofia will graduate from North Royalton High School in May 2025 and plans to pursue her passion for the veterinary field. She will begin her journey at Cuyahoga Community College to become a veterinary technician, using it as a stepping stone toward her ultimate dream of attending the University of Findlay, her dream college.
In her free time, Sofia enjoys going to the gym, doing arts and crafts, and spending time in nature.
